Marty Walker is an acrylic painter with a background in pastel painting, graphic arts and quilting. Her current work focuses on atmospheric cityscapes. She strives to capture the essence of scenes by depicting interesting effects of electric light from cars, fixtures, signs and windows as well as natural light.
Other works include still life and portraits.
Marty has won several awards for her paintings in local and regional competitions. Her work has appeared on the cover of the Ann Arbor Observer over a dozen times and has been used in the Safe House Center Calendar for four consecutive years.
Glacier Hills Retirement Center, Mott Children’s Hospital, Chelsea Community Hospital and First Martin Corporation have her work in their collections. She has served on the board of the Ann Arbor Women Artists since 2004 and is a member of the Great Lakes Pastel Society, Whitmore Lake Portrait Group, National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society as well as Chelsea Painters.
