Golden Marsh

Inspired by nature, Carolyn strives to capture and share the essence of whatever draws her to a particular place. She’s especially attracted to the lighting, textures and the moods of country roads, wetlands, woods and fields. The beauty and uniqueness she sees in the everyday compels her to draw this fascinating world around us.

Carolyn works with pastels which are very versatile and allow for drawing techniques and flat, brush-like strokes. She loves color and often exaggerates the variety and brilliance of what she sees. She begins by loosely establishing the overall composition with large abstract shapes and then applies layers of pastel as she develops value, texture and detail.

She has always enjoyed drawing and painting. Carolyn received a B.A. in art from Eastern Michigan University. About ten years ago, she began to seriously focus on developing her art and participated in her first art fair in 2003. She has received several awards, including having one of her pastels as the featured art for promotional items/advertising for the 2004 State Street Area Art Fair, Ann Arbor, Michigan.
