"Red Lilies", Watercolor, 30 x 22

Mae’s watercolor paintings of flowers and landscapes reflect her love of nature. She uses subtle glazes of warm and cool color to breathe life into the foliage and scenery of her paintings. Her gentle touch and her reverence for nature is evident  in her oil monotypes, as well.

Mae reconnected with her past painting medium of oil when she discovered the wonderful effects of oil monotypes using water based oils. This continues to be her current creative path.  Mae has been a member of the Chelsea Painters for well over 20 years.

Mae’s work has been exhibited in the Ann Arbor area for many years. After moving to the East Lansing area, she has had a one woman shows at Hope-Barbous Library in Okemos and the East Lansing Library in East Lansing. Mae also participated in  a two-woman show at the Turner Dodge House in Lansing. She continues to enjoy learning new ways of creative expression by attending art workshops.

  1. Just across the street is a beautiful talent and person. A master of monotype and truly an inspiration.

  2. Mrs. Hostetler,

I have purchased and enjoy several of your paintings. I also really like your note cards. Are you still making the pansy cards? If so, I would like to buy some. Please let me know what they cost. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the Chelsea Painters Art Fair this year. Thank you. Elizabeth Kinney
