"Sardonic Self Portrait", Mixed Media, 28x22
Gwyn’s goal is to express the many visual ideas that permeate her mind. Ideas often come from nature, people, and experimenting with different media. Even though Gwyn is horrified and saddened by some of the goings on in the world, she doesn’t see her art as a vehicle to express these things.
Her agnostic religious beliefs correlate with her thoughts on art; she doesn’t know what is around the corner, but feels optimistic and hopes to welcome it. For Gwyn, making art is a continuous, joyful, mesmerizing, and challenging journey.
A few of the artists that have had an influence on Gwyn are:
Will Barnet (for his simplicity and composition)
Robert Arneson (for his humor and energy)
Antonello de Messina (for his riveting Renaissance era portraits)
