Barbara Gilbert – Artist Profile

'Freedom', watercolor

‘Freedom’, watercolor

Splashed across the paper, nature’s creation, growth, energy and vibrancy are depicted with spirited enthusiasm. Barbara’s water media and collage paintings represent images taken from her life-memories of places she has experienced.  Having lived in Hawaii and Florida, tropical flora, landscapes and light inspire her fresh color, flowing shapes and textures.

A degree in Art History from U of M, visits to art museums in the United States and in Europe and active participation in several art groups and workshops reflect Barbara’s passion for art.   For more than two decades, Barbara has had work in state wide juried exhibitions, private homes and permanent Gallery and College collections. This Jackson, Michigan artist’s work is in the collections of  U of M Dearborn’s  Alfred Berkowitz Gallery, Jackson College and St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea.

  1. Barb,

It’s so great to see more of your work on the Chelsea Painters website. Your work is amazing and has evolved into a remarkable sophistication of your earlier works. As always I’m drawn to the beautiful use of color and design.
