Chelsea Painters is a diverse group of talented men and women who are actively involved in art on local, regional, and national levels. Members include nationally recognized painters and Signature Members of artists’ societies throughout the nation.
Membership is limited to twenty-five artists and is by invitation. The group meets weekly from September through May in Chelsea, Michigan. Activities, in addition to painting, include monthly critiques, lectures, demonstrations, and general sharing of information and knowledge. Chelsea Painters also exhibits during the year at various venues in southeastern Michigan.
The Chelsea Painters Annual Art Fair is held on the first weekend in June in the park-like setting of Chelsea Community Hospital grounds. This popular event has stimulated the interest of art patrons far beyond Chelsea, Ann Arbor, and their neighboring communities. A percentage of proceeds is donated to the Chelsea Center for the Arts (CCA) and to the Chelsea Community Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Fund.
